A SPECIAL BREW is the long awaited follow on to the best selling CD, Pan Sweet Pan. Special Brew is a Ray Holman composition which he also arranged for this recording by Carib Tokyo.

After listening to this CD on three different types of speakers - from desktop to mid range to high end, I renamed it: "Pan - A Higher Level". It is apropos that in the first Sanch release of the 21st century we get a clear consistent exposition of Steelband orchestral music, using indigenous compositions, at a non-frenetic pace.

This is a brew that one will savor at every sip and every new sip provides more pleasure. Indeed it is more like a seven course gourmet musical meal prepared by the esteemed arrangers. To partake of all the courses one needs seventy-three minutes but if you have time for only one serving any plateful will satisfy you.

Sugar Aloes - Mr. Prestigious

A well balanced assortment of songs that show Aloes' artistry both as a composer and singer. Golden Memories is a direct tribute to Kitch without the platitudes; Band Conductor sounds like a tribute too with the Kitch-like phasing and Pan solo. Power of Pray acknowledges the Shango and religious influences in Trini life. The Fifth is a softer than usual yet pointed political commentary and Shorty's Art of Lovemaking make this a must have CD. Long after the carnival season has passed you will enjoy listening to a polished Mr. Prestigious.

  • Tradewinds Greatest Hits Volume 2
One of the most liked bands in the Caribbean, the Tradewinds are best known for their witty and insightful depiction of West Indian life. Who could ever forget their most popular songs, including the legendary "Wong Ping" and the stirring Guyanese anthem "Not A Blade Of Grass"
  • Tradewinds Back Home
Dave Martins' tribute to his birth place reminds many a "bai" of Boyhood Days, stirs every Guyanese Not {to cede} A Blade of Grass, and explains the significance and broader context of Hooper and Chanderpaul.
